Bucks County All-Star Football Game
The 29th
annual Bob Sands Memorial Bucks County Lions All-Star Football Classic has
been scheduled for 7:30 p.m. on Saturday, June 12 at Council Rock North.
Quakertown Head Coach John Donnelly
and his staff will coach the North squad and Kevin Kelly
of Conwell-Egan will handle the coaching duties for the South.
Practice will begin on June 1,
followed by an intra squad scrimmage on Saturday June 5, both to be held at
Quakertown High School.
The following Panthers have be
chosen to compete in this year's contest: Ryan Walter, Chris Donley, Tom
Gibat, Dave Fischer, Jeremy Walck, Jadd Buerhle, Brandon Shimp, and Hunter
Moyer.
The all-star teams will be made up
of players from the following schools:
North: Quakertown, Pennridge,
CB East, CB West, William Tennent, and Archbishop Wood.
South: Bensalem, Council
Rock North and South, Neshaminy, Pennsbury, Harry Truman, Conwell-Egan, and
Bristol.
The game has been played annually
since 1976 and the North leads the series 19-10-3.
Local Ties: Former
Quakertown head coaches who have coached in the game: Frank Prusch (1973),
Doug Peiffer (1981), Doug Shobert (1985), and Steve Curly (1995).
Current assistant coach and Quakertown alum George Banas was the MVP for the
North in 1994.
